چکیده
We consider a mesoscopic mechanism of the exchange interaction in a system of alternating ferromagnetic/nonmagnetic metallic layers. In the case of small mesoscopic samples the sign and the amplitude of the the exchange interaction energy turn out to be random sample-specific quantities. They can be changed by applying an external magnetic field, by attaching to the system superconducting electrodes with different phases of the superconducting order parameter and by changing the chemical potential of electrons in the metal with the help of a gate. In the case of square or cubic geometries of the non-magnetic layer at low temperature the variance of the exchange energy turns out to be sample size independent.

Making use of symmetry properties and known exact results for the Hubbard Model on bipartite lattice, we show that (1) there is no phase separation for repulsive coupling at low dopings, (2) phase separation and superconductivity co-exist in the ground states for attractive coupling in a range of filling fractions.

In a mesoscopic metal in proximity with a superconductor, the electronic conductance is enhanced in a very energy-sensitive way. In this paper, we discuss the spectral conductance of a proximity superconductor from both the theoretical and experimental point of view. The dependence of the spectral conductance on the phase-breaking length, gap of the superconductor and interface transparency is ...

It is shown that an observed length in the potential drops across IQHE samples is a universal length for a given value of magnetic field which results from the quantum mechanical uncertainty relation.

We study the orbital magnetism of 2D lattices with chaotic motion of electrons withing a primitive cell. Using the temperature diagrammatic technique we evaluate the averaged value and rms fluctuation of magnetic response in the diffusive regime withing the model of non-interacting electrons. The fluctuations of magnetic susceptibility turn out to be large and at low temperature can be of the o...

We review recent results on the magnetic pseudodifferential calculus both in symbolic and in C∗-algebraic form. We also indicate some applications to spectral analysis of pseudodifferential operators with variable magnetic fields.
